My Natural Hair Journey: My Product Family!

I get asked what products I use all the time, so here’s the scoop! (I am not an ambassador or promoter for any of these brands.)

hair products

  1. OGX Weightless Hydration Coconut Water Shampoo
    • Your shampoo and conditioner set the foundation of your hair. I don’t usually look for too much in a shampoo because I feel like they all do the same thing–cleanse. However OGX has a variety of lines that provide different nutrients for your hair. I have dry scalp/hair due to eczema and dyeing my hair, and this line has helped hydrate my hair well.
  2. OGX Weightless Hydration Coconut Water Conditioner
    • I’m actually on the hunt for a new shampoo and conditioner duo because I’ve used this one for so long. But I’ve stayed faithful to the Coconut Water line because it’s lightweight, very moisturizing to my curls, and gives my hair a shiny finish.
  3. OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum
    • I’ve been using this serum since my early days of being natural. This is the only form of oil I use regularly on my hair, but I can’t get enough of how well it seals my ends and locks in moisture. And chile, the shine? Oh yes.
  4. OGX Quenching Coconut Curls Frizz-Defying Curl Styling Milk
    • I use this product more as a midweek curl definer. My hair frizzes very easily and out of all the frizz-defying products I’ve tried, this one actually worked for me. And it’s got coconut in it, which my hair responds really well to.
  5. OGX Quenching Coconut Curls Curling Hair Butter
    • This butter is newer to my product family, but I love it. I like it best as a leave in, but I use it in conjunction with the Shea Moisture Leave In Conditioner I already have. I don’t care to use it as a deep conditioner because the Shea Moisture masque I use works better for me. But I’ve found using this butter while in the shower with aid from the steam hydrates my curls so well and even gives them definition too.
  6. As I Am Coconut Cowash Cleansing Conditioner
    • I like to cowash because the harsh alcohols in shampoo strip your hair of its natural oils, and shampooing too often dries your hair out. This cowash is inexpensive and both cleanses and preserves the moisture in my scalp and hair. It also provides great slip for detangling, and the coconut and castor seed oils in it mesh well with my family of products.
  7. Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen and Restore Treatment Masque
    • This deep conditioning masque is rock of my product family. I remember I use to buy deep conditioners by the little dollar packs and that was cute, but once I tried this I never went back. This line of Shea Moisture products is what helped me restore my hair after heat damage. Scalp to ends this masque is so nourishing. It heals my split ends, strengthens my hair, and leaves my hair feeling like butter every week. IN. LOVE.
  8. Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen and Restore Leave-In Conditioner
    • Another essential part of the team. As soon as I apply this leave-in conditioner my hair just melts. I see the best results when I apply it after I’ve (co)washed and deep conditioned my hair. I apply it first as a base and put my other styling products on afterwards. It keeps my hair moisturized and seals my ends too.
  9. Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen and Restore Styling Milk
    • I use this lotion primarily as a daily styler. I never use it after a deep condition because my leave-in works well enough. This lotion works well when using the LOC method, and have I mentioned how good this line smells? Leaves my hair smelling like vanilla cookies! (Hint: It’s the shea butter.)
  10. Carol’s Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey Shine Pomade
    • This shine pomade is like a grease and great for hair and scalp care. I use it for my scalp and it really decreased the amount of dandruff I saw on a weekly basis. I also use it as a smoothing agent for my buns and ponytails. It has the fruitiest, juiciest smell.
  11. Eco Style Black Castor and Flaxseed Oil Gel
    • There are several different types of Eco Styling Gel, but I remember when they came out with this kind. It was sold out everywhere I looked for it, and when I finally found it I realized why. This gel is actually hydrating, and my curls be POPPIN girl. I use it for wash and go’s, my curly buns, and it even smooths edges! (I use my coconut oil serum on top of this, and it locks in so much moisture and adds shine.)
  12. Blueberry Bliss Curl Control Paste
    • This is the only edge control I’ll use now on the rare chance that need it or am trying to achieve a super sleek look. Blueberry bliss doesn’t overly cake on my edges and it’s easy to rinse away (so it doesn’t rip your edges out). This is also the only edge control I know of that you can apply to your curls for amazing definition.

What’s in your hair? Have you used any of these products before? Have any products you’d like me to try and review? Comment, comment, comment!
